Striving for Success!
The Cornwall Squash Rackets Association resurrected the ‘Strivers’ competition and players from all over the county traveled to Falmouth for the tournament which is for players outside the top fifty in the county rankings. The nature of the event was emphasised by the profiles of the eventual winners, the main competition was won by 15 year old Christy Peace from Falmouth, a young player on his way to full county recognition. The plate winner was 47 year old Steve Martin from St Austell, a veteran with many years of squash behind him.
Christy beat another young player, Treve Hosken, convincingly 3-0 in the final.

The plate was a much closer affair and Martin finally out hit Graham Heard to win 3-2. Said tournament organiser, Terry Beckett “the important thing is that the Strivers competition is back in the sporting diary. It is a great event with good squash played in the best of spirits”.
